Paving to occur on Forest Service Road 23
OLYMPIA, Wash., Oct. 2, 2024—Travelers on Forest Service Road (FS) 23 should anticipate delays due to road paving work scheduled to begin Oct. 8 and continuing through Oct. 11.
Weather and other potential unknown circumstances could potentially delay work or extend this schedule.
Contract road crews are paving a 1.52-mile section of road from milepost 1.1 to milepost 2.62 that is currently gravel.
A single lane closure will be in place for the duration of work.
Travelers should anticipate short delays, and plan for additional time to reach their destination.
FS 23 is a Forest Service road that crosses Green Diamond land and connects lands in the Skokomish Valley to Forest Service Land near the High Steel Bridge and Vance Creek.
This road improvement project cost $1,261,510.00 which was provided by the Forest Service’s Legacy Roads and Trails Remediation Program funded by President Biden’s Inflation Reduction
Act.
The program is part of the Forest Service’s efforts to maintain and improve infrastructure within national forests. The program focuses on reducing storm damage risks, restoring waterways,
and improving trails and roads to enhance access and safety.
