Dear Ms. Burns,
Our office was informed by the Washington State Board of Tax Appeals, that the Assessor's
Valuation regarding improvements was incorrectly listed on the Order of Determination as
$640,341, when it should have been $640,351. Board of Equalization Chair Margaret Taylor
provided us with a corrected Order, which is attached. I also sent one to the State Board for their
records.

Appellant's Argument and Evidence:The Appellant states that the assessed increase of the.

Appellant's Argument and Evidence:The Appellant states that the assessed increase of the
subject property is out of step with other properties in the neighborhood. Five comparable sales
were offered as examples. The Appellant urged the Board to work toward an assessment/taxation
system that can allow residence of modest means to afford living in Jefferson County.
Assessor's Argument and Evidence:The Assessor's Representative presented six comparable
properties showing the market value of similar properties in the subject county. The Assessor
explained the methodology used to assess the value of properties in the Cape George and
surrounding area.
Decision:After consideration the Board finds the Appellant did not present the clear, cogent and
convincing evidence necessary to overcome the presumptive correctness of the value established
by the Assessor. The Board of Equalization sustains the value established by the Assessor.
