Dear Jefferson County Commissioners,
Hope you and yours are doing well as Autumn progresses.
I am reaching out to you about considering a Proclamation for October as Resilience Awareness Month 2024. In 2019, the Clallam Resilience Project followed the good direction of a number
of other Washington State counties to have elected leaders declare October as Resilience Awareness Month. Since then, we have continued to build partnerships and events and proclamations;
so far, declarations are being made in 2024 by Forks, Sequim, and Port Angeles City Councils and Clallam County Commissioners.
Resilience Month is supporting Olympic Peninsula events (as you can see from the attached calendar of scheduled events), and elevating a watch party for the keynote speaker, Dr. Chan
Hellman about the science of hope, hosted by OlyCAP Housing in Port Townsend. There are a number of cross- County events, particularly those hosted by Peninsula College, which cultivate
a shared language and common understanding about resilience and hope.
2024 is the first year of approaching the Jefferson's Board of County Commissioners to ask for consideration of the draft of the Proclamation October as Resilience Awareness Month in

begun, and perhaps your agendas and Proclamations are already set. Know that the City of Port Angeles is making the proclamation at the end of the month.
