WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition (Exhibit "A") to name a private road,
as shown on attached map (Exhibit "B"), either Woodduck Way or Lost R Way or Night Owl Lane;
and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name, pursuant to the Jefferson
County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number 2-0401-91, to allow for addressing
along the road; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that there are currently five addresses assigned at
milepost 0.35 Left Nelsons Landing Rd; and
WHEREAS, notification was sent to agencies and adjacent property owners; and
WHEREAS, Fire District #1 and Jeff Com 911 support all three name choices;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the road be named Woodduck Way.

The following are my comments concerning Road Naming Petitions received.

Our choices would be either Stage Coach Lane or Logger Lane. Little Lane is too similar with Little
Quil Road off of Lords Lake Loop also within the Quilcene Postal District.

Our first choice would be Woodduck Way. Night Owl is very similar with Nighthawk Ridge also
within PT Postal District and Lost R Way would always be missed spelled within the systems (if this is a
qualifying reason).

We thought having two roads with very similar names would be confusing, especially in an emergency
situation; however, if Chief Wilson has no objection, I have no other comments.

Naming a private road - Justin Clouse, Petitioner
Statement of Issue: A property owner has submitted a petition to name a private
road giving the following three name choices: Woodduck Way, Lost R Way and Night
Owl Lane. This road, as shown on Exhibit "B" of the resolution, is located at milepost
0.35 Left on Nelson's Landing Road, Port Townsend.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: There are currently five (5) addresses
assigned at milepost 0.35 Left requiring the road to be named in accordance with the
Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-0401-91 (JCC 12.20).
Notices were mailed to all adjacent property owners and affected agencies; Fire
District 1 and Jeff Com 911 support all three name choices. The Assessor's Office
prefers the first name choice. No other comments were received. In accordance with
JCC 12.20.260, the Board is asked to consider the road name choices given, together
with the comments received by the affected agencies and adjacent property owners
and accept one of the choices, The Board may choose to deny the petition and return
it to the petitioner for resubmission with new name choices.

Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None \.
Recommendation: The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of
County Commissioners review the attached exhibits and name the road Woodduck
Way.
