Southeast communities are reeling from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, and Florida is already preparing for another massive impact from Hurricane Milton. Fossil fuel CEOs continue to push for more coal, oil, and gas to rake in profits, and we're facing growing threats from extremist plots like Project 2025. At the same time, our movement has made enormous strides in the last few years with critical clean energy wins and major progress on reducing pollution. Now we are at a critical juncture. We hope you'll join us tomorrow at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT as we gather to make sense of the current moment, talk about what this all means for the climate movement, and chart a path forward together. Join us for a livestream to make sense of this moment and learn how you can get involved. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=c91d86d2ec106f265cab19b77e8f76e4d15021d3563b5ed066f32bcac043adb11ad5c a41a02f845598e6e3bb3cd55feed18ce9b692680e9a136a8a718861d4a8> How to Help <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=c91d86d2ec106f267bed515b9cca5a343a0caebef32872f225421f5a9b595bffe6f042504c2f5f01b2bd8d3e1fbaf595a6e6d40978dd4b76> Provide direct aid to the communities devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The science is clear that these are unnatural disasters – climate change is making storms, rainfall, and flooding more likely and more extreme. Yet only 3 percent of national TV news segments about Helene mentioned climate change. To fix a problem, first we need to be clear about what's causing it. Major news outlets must name the connection between extreme weather events and human-caused climate change. Demand media outlets connect climate change to their coverage of hurricanes, floods, heat waves, and other unnatural disasters. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=c91d86d2ec106f2635dbeb81db1ea5a 95e6c86a4cc8abc0096868ffe063bb9f33eef590cd8de7381bfd0045458f2bdb720fe42a101a558c5f34c40fa5c04a41e> <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=c91d86d2ec106f26892f0110235bfa173651e03b534a7810537b3112b74457a0720079d6f56dfd47e868659b0c1fefdd9b4c4e682e25d084> Paid for by Sierra Club Independent Action www.sierraclubindependentaction.org <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=c91d86d2ec106f26e60bf02d8b0eb73acf96610c7137e85caa2e030980c8108320288fad518306ae 2cdde55e1ae1dc9950159c16101a2376> , and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee. 26 Days to Go: Write Letters to Defeat Trump & Big Oil at the Polls! <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=c91d86d2ec106f26169aabcb16c8ad578c51f7925d61656e6ced36d9c8acd4faa235e6f6c9abe8b64e44ddccc5 cbdce35df9b45fee6b256f> Big Oil has known for decades that burning coal, oil, and gas would lead to more extreme weather like Hurricanes Helene and Milton. This November, we have a choice: Are we going to elect someone who cozies up to Big Oil, promises to open up public lands for drilling, privatize the weather service, and reduce disaster funding? Or will we put Kamala Harris, a proven climate champion, in the Oval Office to protect our families, our communities, and our future? Join us in sending hand-written letters to swing state voters to elect Kamala Harris. Whenever a tropical storm rises from ocean waters, we wait to see if it builds into a hurricane. If it does, we wait to see if it tracks toward Florida, and chances are it will. Florida has 1,350 miles of coastline, more than any other state among the Lower 48." Read more from author and Florida resident Jack E. The revenue would be used to help finance climate mitigation and adaptation efforts, such as upgrading infrastructure to be more resilient to extreme weather, mitigating the impacts of pollution in frontline communities, and providing climate-related disaster assistance. Read on to learn how this effort will address damages caused by climate change. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=c91d86d2ec106f263f942b15e56ab8af50e10221bfaafabb2b996f7ce5bfa82549e48e4b1e2234f 6c3609a353ef34c54b4d28e440a972cba> Not a subscriber?
