RESOLUTION NO. 4:i_nR
WHEREAS, one-half (Y2) of the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's salary is paid
by the State of Washington in accordance with RCW 36.17.020; and
WHEREAS, the State Legislature passed Substitute Senate Bill 6297 to amend RCW
36.17.020 to direct that "the State of Washington shall contribute an amount equal to one-half (Y1) of the
salary of a Superior Court Judge towards the salary of the elected Prosecuting Attorney;" and,
WHEREAS, SSB6297 further states that "the County shall continue to contribute
towards the salary of the elected Prosecuting Attorney in an amount that equals or exceeds that
contributed by the County in 2008;" and,
WHEREAS, the Washington State Treasurer requires documentation of the salary
established as a basis for payment of the State's share of the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's
salary.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED, that the salary for the Jefferson County
Prosecuting Attorney for the months of July and August in the calendar year 2008 is one hundred
nineteen thousand six hundred forty six and 84/100 dollars ($119,646.84), effective July 1,2008.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the salary for the Jefferson County Prosecuting
Attorney effective September 1, 2008 through the end of the calendar year is one hundred twenty three
thousand five hundred seventy two and 84/100 dollars ($123,572.84).

Description --
A brief description of the agenda item.
The Legislature passed SSB6297 which amends RCW 36.17.020 regarding the setting of
the Prosecuting Attorney's salary.
II.
Issues --
A short outline of the major issues or areas that should be
given particular attention.
The State of Washington will, effective July 1, 2008 contribute an amount equal to one-
half ('l1z) of the salary of a Superior Court Judge toward the salary of the elected
Prosecuting Attorney. This resolution is to set the Prosecuting Attorney's salary equal to
that of a Superior Court Judge. Once the resolution is approved it will be sent to the
State so that the salary reimbursement is made at the appropriate level.
III. Action -- What is the nature of the action the Board is being asked to
take (discussion, approval of a contract, support for a grant, etc.).
Approve the resolution.
