Dear Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, I hope that protections through rent increase caps for residents of mobile home parks will be supported. This would also include moratoriums on sale of mobile home parks. As a tenant of Olympic Village Mobile Home park, we are facing a 3rd rent increase since my arrival 14 months ago. The next one will be $200/ month. If residents are forced out due to economic eviction or conversion of the park to something else, a large section affordable housing will be lost to low income, seniors and disabled. We are facing rent increase under the rational of maintenance costs. This park shows no evidence of maintenance or upkeep. There are potholes that endanger cars and pedestrians and outdated septic servicing. My septic tank is 2 1/4 yrs. past required maintenance, also offering foul septic smell coming through the sink. I was told it was up to date 14 months ago when I moved in. All yard and property upkeep is done by the residents at their expense. If residents are forced out, high costs of transporting the mobile units will be prohibitive for some. Many of the larger, older homes are unlikely to withstand moving. This would leave many homeless. Since we have affordable communities it's in the best interest of the county to protect them and support those who are economically vulnerable. Thank you for your support on this! Carol Ferguson 6062 S.R. 20 #28 Port Townsend, WA. 98368
