Some of our key funding issues include:

Fund a dedicated South County Deputy.
Increase ER&R fleet budget.
8
Increase in axon
Increase body worn cameras to include courthouse security and civil deputies.
Our annual AXON budget for 2024 was $83,467.
The amount covers body worn cameras, tasers, VR training tools for use of force encounters, and cloud storage for video and records.
The proposed 2025 AXON budget will be $112,518.
Requesting an increase of $29,051
9
South county deputy position
Requests from public for dedicated South County Deputy
Confirmed incidents not always reported
National average is 2.1 officers per 1000 residents, which is WA is 51st in nation
We are asking to only approve the additional FTE deputy for salary and benefits
JCSO will utilize cost savings from 2024 budget to purchase vehicle for position once approved
To approve this request will show that the County is seriously addressing the Strategic Plan for Safe, Healthy and Thriving Communities, South County often feels left out

Change from original request
After getting an updated quote from AXON for cameras/ tasers we need $29051 increase instead of $35,533 originally requested.
We originally asked for $30,000 for south county patrol car. The actual cost of this vehicle would be $85000. Instead of adding this to the 2025 budget I would propose that we use
cost savings from vacant jail positions from the 2024 budget to purchase this should the South County Deputy get approved.
Original request to add to 2025 budget was $318,732.
With change to AXON line item and purchasing South County Deputy vehicle with 2024 budget savings the new request amount would be $282,250
