Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday to mark 20 years of Girls' Night Out FUN! This year was truly one for the books! We sold 400 Goodie Bags, over 200 raffle tickets, and nearly all the Sip & Stroll tickets! The Sip & Stroll was a huge hit, featuring local wine and cider from 8 incredible Wineries and Cideries. This beloved event is more than just fun—it's a fundraiser for the Port Townsend Main Street Program, supporting our mission to preserve, promote, and enhance our historic business district. It's also a fundraiser for the Jefferson Healthcare Foundation, which provides funding for cancer screenings for local women in need. The Board shall nominate a slate of candidates or may appoint a committee to do so. This slate, however, shall not be exclusive of any nominations made by the membership. Five or more members may nominate an individual for election by submission in writing of such nomination and affixing their signatures, submit that nomination to the Port Townsend Main Street office, 211 Taylor Street, #3, Port Townsend WA 98368, ten (10) days in advance of the date ballots are mailed. <https://mcusercontent.com/72d728eac0a891fc7cdd75517/images/b01b30f3-451d-835a-73d7-042599b86915.jpeg> New Bike Shelter Arriving this Fall! Thanks to a partnership with the City of Port Townsend and the Port Townsend Main Street Program, there will be a new covered bike shelter adjacent to the Cotton Building. Above is a preliminary visualization of what the new shelter will look like. This is a project of the Port Townsend Main Street Design Committee and we thank Studio STL, our Main Street Tax Incentive Donors, and The City of of Port Townsend. You may know our work from colorful events like Concerts on the Dock, the Uptown Street Fair, the Downtown Trick or Treat Parade, festive holiday events/local shopping promotions, and Creative District efforts including Soundcheck. You might enjoy the winter lights in the trees, beautiful hanging flower baskets or the downtown pocket parks like Adams Street Park, or the Tyler Plaza with its overhead lights—all Main Street projects. We coordinated Earth Day Cleanup downtown, care for the rain gardens, manage two loan programs and hung approximately 500 pieces of children’s art in the stores as part of Art Wave in May. This summer/fall we coordinated the Downtown Mobile Greeter Program . Our friendly greeter worked Fri-Sunday with an e-bike equipped with visitor information (funded by LTAC). He promoted our local businesses, things to do, lodging options and invited visitors to come back. The Main Street Tax Incentive Program allows businesses to put their state B&O taxes to work locally through the Port Townsend Main Street Program. This is a key source of funding for our 501c3 nonprofit and enables us to put our mission and workplan (with so many programs for our community) into action. Business contributors who wish to participate must sign up each year through the Washington State DOR website and payments are due to our office by Nov. 8, 2024. 75% of your contribution is returned to you via B&O tax credits in 2025.
