HomeMy WebLinkAbout101524 - WSF Service DisruptionsALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them.
Good morning county and local elected officials and other partners:
I’m sharing this update broadly as it impacts multiple WSF routes. The Tacoma, currently assigned to the Bainbridge/Seattle route, has a potentially significant issue with the stern
tube requiring it to be removed from service, likely for at least a week. This means the route is currently on one-boat service operating with the 144-car Chimacum.
To restore two-boat service on Bainbridge/Seattle, our busiest route, this afternoon we will move vessels to provide as much vehicle capacity as possible with the vessels we currently
have available. The 64-vehicle Salish will move from its current assignment as the Fauntleroy/Southworth/Vashon (Triangle) “bonus” boat, to Edmonds/Kingston, replacing the 202-vehicle
Puyallup, which in turn will move to Bainbridge/Seattle, restoring two-boat service there. We expect the boat moves to be completed by early evening.
Losing the Tacoma without a service relief vessel and making the adjustments detailed above means a challenging week for our customers – today on Bainbridge/Seattle and the rest of the
week for the Triangle without the bonus boat and Kingston/Edmonds on reduced vehicle capacity. We expect the 144-vehicle Kaleetan to return to service from a maintenance period at
the end of the week which will add capacity on affected routes as soon as it does. The Tacoma was already scheduled to be out of service for maintenance and preservation work for three
weeks starting Monday, so we will share additional updates on vessel changes and any service adjustments as needed.
We are providing frequent updates for customers through passenger alerts and social media. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Hadley
