HomeMy WebLinkAboutShelter Coalition Meeting 090324 Shelter Coalition Meeting  September 3, 2024 Time has changed to 11:30 AM. Present: Greg Brotherton - facilitator, Julia Cochrane - scribe, Apple Martine - Public Health, Heather Dudley Nolette - Bayside, David Ehnebuske, Debbi Tesch - Housing Authority, Bob Saring - American Legion, Beulah Kingsolver - Dove House.  Apple Martine - Public Health - continue to be an ally to the shelter and their guests. CoVid is on the rise - there is access to information and support from Public Health including offering the vaccinations at the shelter. The Harm Reduction Team is available for trainings and other support. The Health Dept also has CoVid Tests.  Julia asks about Naloxone and Fentanyl Test Strip kits. Anya and her Harm Reduction Team are available for trainings and support. The training would be cross training with various organizations - Bayside, Winter Welcoming Center, Dove House, Owl 360, etc.  Shelters - American Legion Shelter - Bayside, Dove House, Olycap - Caswelll Brown, Bayside Towers, Winter Welcoming Center.  Confidentiality Agreement - Heather - met with Bob about confidentiality and other issues. They are crafting a specific confidentiality agreement for the American Legion’s club staff. Hopefully his staff doesn’t have confidential information to share. The reality of AL staff seeing people come and go every day, and how easy it would be to accidentally share protected info - like so and so is staying downstairs. The only phone call they would make regarding shelter people will be to 911.  Beulah will share a simple sheet they use for vendors who come into their programs.  Food Program - Heather - going through application process to certify their kitchen as a donor kitchen. Till that happens meals will be made off site. Amanda Christopherson connected with Mike Moore to get a grant.  Deescalation Training - tomorrow, and ongoing. Shelter Host position still open. People are filling all the slots.  Shelter Updates - Updates from the other shelters will be brought to this meeting in the future. How many people, demographics, etc.  Dove House today - Beulah - 19 in shelter - 10 kids, 7 started school today, 2 single women Meal Volunteers - all forms will be on the Bayside website by tomorrow.
