Save the dates! New trainings available
The Washington State Broadband Office (WSBO) will be hosting four upcoming training sessions for the BEAD application process.
* Topic: Checklist and maps – 1 p.m., Oct. 30 and 2 p.m., Nov. 7
* Topic: BEAD application and Zoom grants portal – 2 p.m., Nov. 14 and 2 p.m., Nov. 20.

WSBO has also released an updated version of our Getting Ready for the BEAD Checklist document. This document guides the application process for the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment
(BEAD) Program. It outlines required attachments, eligibility criteria, and other critical considerations for applicants.

Updated BEAD project area maps posted
WSBO posted updated BEAD construction project area maps this week detailing unserved and underserved locations across the state. These maps will provide a foundation as we work to achieve
Internet for All in Washington.
These maps will be periodically updated to reflect the most current information available. Small changes may still occur, as final approval from the National Telecommunications and Information
Administration (NTIA) is pending.

Funding application anticipated next month; no construction expected for a year or more

17G3Ekx69An-q2uLBIQ_hpK2z2hXL_3yywbbV3QDXpk=375> began last April and received more than 87,400 challenges. The process allowed eligible entities, including non-profit organizations,
tribal governments and Internet Service Providers (ISPs), to dispute the level of internet service reported on the Federal Communications (FCC) national broadband map.
BEAD applicants will use the updated maps to prepare their applications for the state's $1.23 billion in BEAD funding.
We anticipate opening our BEAD funding application in November. It is important to note that the general public will not see project construction for a year or more. Major project pieces
including project application, funding award and permitting, still have to happen before a shovel hits the ground. Local project leaders receiving BEAD funding will set their project’s
schedule.
