Hi all of you transit leaders,
Thanks for your excellent virtual open house on the JT service plan. What follows is my view of one aspect of how JT's plans, the Climate Action Plan and Service Plan, fit with the
its Long Range Plan.
We can’t have both increased service for the sparsely populated areas and reduce our community GHG emissions. Only increasing service frequency for the denser residential areas and
our commercial cores offers the needed VMT/GHG reductions as called for in the joint City/County Climate Action Plan and JT’s Long Range Plan. It will offer greater service to the
many at a lower expense per mile per passenger. Coupled with the city and county implementing a managed parking plan, transit will become more convenient than solo driving, Considering
that 66% of our community’s GHG emissions are from transportation and that Transit’s share is less than 1%, this is the fruit we must pick.
Thank you,
Scott
