Lisa:
This Letter is to inform you Jefferson County Food Bank Association cannot deny you access to food resources as
an eligible client for our services.
We can, however, deny you access to our property at 760 Chimacum Road, Chimacum,WA 98339. You are no
longer welcome on our property effective immediately,24 hours a day,7 days a week,365 days a year.
While you might suggest you have the right to free speech, the actions associated with the signs you have hung in
public places, on your vehicle (you drive on to our property)and now petitioning clients, volunteers )ublic
are clearly part of a larger campaign protesting the leadership and operations of the food banks.
You do not have our permission to do so on our property, the Tri-area Food Bank.
It is not legal to protest on private property without the owner's permission:
• First Amendment: The First Amendment protects free speech, but it doesn't usu:liy Apply to pr,
property unless you own or lease it, or the owner gives you permission.
• Property owner rights: Private property owners can set rules for speech on theii property.
• Publics aces: You can usuallyexpressyour views inpublic spaces, such as streets
P P P , parks, and plazas in
•
front of government buildings. However, you may need a permit for larger-scale protests or if you'll be usin
loudspeakers depending on the municipality.
We respectively ask again that you stop your behavior. It is demoralizing, hateful and is creating fear throughout
our client community and with our volunteers.
Attached is JCFBA Proxy or Customer Pick-up Authorization Form. This form allows someone to receive resourc
on behalf of your household. Please have your proxy return the form to one of our intake volunteers next
Wednesday so you can continue your food access at this JCFBA location.
Please note, if you choose to visit another food bank location we can and will take all necessary precautions to
protect the safety, well-being and First Amendment rights of our other clients and volunteers should you attem
disrupt operations.
