HomeMy WebLinkAbout062 07 . cc~ pw311 l(e-CAS. 1 11 ~l f)~, COUNTY OF JEFFERSON STATE OF WASHINGTON In the Matter of Establishing a Moderate Risk Waste Cash Drawer x x x RESOLUTION NO. 62-07 WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Public Works Department operates a Moderate Risk Waste Facility; and WHEREAS, the Moderate Risk Waste Facility collects fees to dispose of hazardous waste from businesses that are classified as small quantity generators; and WHEREAS, the Moderate Risk Waste Facility does not have a cash drawer; and WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is requesting to establishing a cash drawer for the Moderate Risk Waste Facility in the amount of$100 to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the Moderate Risk Waste Operations; IT IS HEREBY RESOL YED that the Jefferson County Moderate Risk Waste Facility Cash Drawer be established in the amount of $1 00 and the County Treasurer be authorized to issue a Treasurer's check in the amount of $100 payable to the Jefferson County Solid Waste Fund. Fischbach, County Administrator From: Frank Gifford, Public Works Director q6;J Agenda Date: July 16,2007 Subject: Establishing a Moderate Risk Waste Facility Cash Drawer Funds Statement of Issue: In January 2007, Jefferson County adopted the revised Policies and Procedures for Revenue/Cash Handling. The policy states in Section VI, Cash Receiving Duties, paragraph A that only one person should have control of cash except during lunch or in the absence of the cashier, two employees may handle cash transactions. However, both employees must be present during the transaction and both must verifY all cash received and disbursed from cash in the cash drawer in writing. Solid Waste is requesting to establish a Moderate Risk Waste Facility cash drawer of$100 to comply with the above stated policy. Analysis/Strategic Goals: This request addresses goal no. 7b. By establishing a Moderate Risk Waste Facility Cash Drawer which will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Moderate Risk Waste Facility operation and comply with the revised Revenue/Cash Handling Policies and Procedures adopted in 2007. Alternatives: 1. Continue operating the Moderate Risk Waste Facility with no Cash Drawer and not comply with the 2007 revised Revenue/Cash Handling Policies and Procedures. 2. Approve the request to establish a Moderate Risk Waste Facility Cash Drawer of $1 00 to comply with the 2007 revised Revenue/Cash Handling Policies and Procedures. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None. Recommendation: The Solid Waste Department recommends approving the request to establish the Moderate Risk Waste Facility Cash Drawer of $1 00.
