I have owned Parcel# 801-021-011 for 27 years. I wish to comment on the petition to name the private drive adjacent to my property. The need to have the road named in accordance with Emergency Locator System Ordinance No. 2-0401-91 is understood. I do, however, object to the name choices petitioned for by Carl and Sheila Peterson of Poulsbo, WA and owners of Parcel #801-021-010. The road names proposed on the petition ("Ralpbie Lane", ''Peterson Way" al1d "Our Place") are very personally connected to the Petersons (owners since, May 22, 2007) and do not represent any other property owners adjacent to the road. Furthermore, the Petersons have not consulted any other property owners in their road name choices. I believe that all of the adjacent property owners should converse and come up with some name choices that would be more fitting and hold more meaning to all of us on the road. Please reject these petitioned road names and allow all of the property owners to meet and discuss appropriate road names for all of us. Thank you for this opportunity to comment. The petition is signed by four of the seven property owners along the road. This road, as shown on Exhibit "B" of the resolution, is located at milepost 1.70 right on Egg & I Road, Chimacum. Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: There are currently five (5) addresses assigned at milepost 1.70 right requiring the road to be named in accordance with the Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-0401-91 (JCC 12.20). Notices were mailed to all adjacent property owners and affected agencies. East Jefferson Fire-Rescue (FPD#1) and Jeff Com 911 support the first name choice of Retreat Lane. One adjacent property owner submitted a letter in support of the petition. Another adjacent property owner submitted a letter giving three new choices; however after speaking with him, he stated that he would be fine with any of the choices submitted by the petitioners. In accordance with JCC 12.20.260, the Board is asked to consider the road name choices together with the comments received from the affected agencies and adjacent property owners and accept one of the name choices. The Board may choose to deny the petition and return it to the petitioner for resubmission with new name choices. Fiscallmpact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None Recommendation: The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of County Commissioners review the attached exhibits and name the road Retreat Lane by signing the attached resolution.
