Changing the Name of
McKinley Street
WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition to change the name of a road from
McKinley Street, as shown on attached Exhibit "A", to Graceland Way, Westwind Way or Whisper
Woods Way, pursuant to Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number
12.20.270; and
WHEREAS, the only property owner addressed along this road has expressed his desire
for this change by joining in this petition; and
WHEREAS, notice of public hearing and request for comments prior to or at the hearing
was mailed to all property owners along said road and interested parties on July 10, 2007; and
WHEREAS, no negative responses have been received for the petitioners first choice
name of Graceland Way;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that McKinley Street, as shown on the attached Exhibit
"B", shall now be named Graceland Way.
ADOPTED THIS 20th DAY OF AUGUST, 2007.

Changing the name of McKinley Street - lrondale Acre Tracts
Statement of Issue: Petitioner has submitted a road name change petition (Exhibit "A") to
rename the segment of McKinley Street as shown on the attached Exhibit "B" Graceland Way,
Westwind Way or Whisper Woods Way.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's f:t Con's: This road, as shown on Exhibit "B" of the resolution,
is in the Port Hadlock postal district and is shown on the face of the lrondale Acre Tracts plat
as McKinley Street. One address is assigned along the road. However, because there is
already a McKinley Street in the same fire district with many addresses assigned, East
Jefferson Fire-Rescue requested that the road name be changed before any more addresses
are assigned. JCC 12.20.270 requires that 50% of the property owners addressed along the
road sign the petition - this requirement was met as the petition was signed by the petitioner
and the only person addressed on the road. Notices were mailed to agencies and adjacent
property owners on July 10, 2007 and the notice of public hearing was published August 8,
2007. Jeff Com and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue (FPD #1) support the petitioner's first name
choice of Graceland Way. No other responses were received.
In accordance with JCC 12.20.260, the Board is asked to consider the road name choices
together with the comments received from the affected agencies and adjacent property
owners and accept one of the name choices given. The Board may choose to deny the
petition and return it to the petitioner for resubmission with new name choices.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None
Recommendation: Public Works recommends that the BOCC review the attachments,
conduct the public hearing and change the name of McKinley Street to Graceland Way by
signing the attached resolution.
