REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
8:30 AM, Tuesday, April 12, 2022
Jefferson County Courthouse, Commissioners’ Chambers
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 8:33 AM. Board members Gary Mikelson,
David Faber, Greg Brotherton, Secretary Sarah Melancon and Kristen Bennett participated in
the meeting. Howard Scott was absent.
Approval of Minutes: Sarah Melancon called for approval of minutes from the April 13, 2021
Regular meeting. Greg Brotherton and David Faber seconded the approval. All were in favor.
The motion was carried.
Introductions: Sarah Melancon, HR Director and Kristen Bennett, HR Analyst were introduced
to the LEOFF I board.
Old Business: None
New Business: There have been no new claims. David Faber asked how many members are in
LEOFF I. Sarah Melancon responded with there are thirteen members. Gary Mikelson noted
that the program ended either in 1976 or 1977 and no new members have been added after
those dates. Sarah Melancon noted that if a retiree in LEOFF I were to be hired by another
agency that agency would then be responsible for LEOFF I.
Greg Brotherton asked if in the October meeting LEOFF I should have elected a new chair.
David Faber stated he was elected in 2021. The term for Board members is two years. It is
believed that the Chair is also for two years. Greg Brotherton suggested that LEOFF I hold an
election for a new Chair in 2023.
Sarah Melancon noted that in February 2022, an advertisement was placed for a new LEOFF I
Citizen-at-Large and no applications were received.
Adjourn: David Faber adjourned the meeting at 8:45 AM. All members were in agreement.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 8:30 AM.
