I am proud of our state for passing the ambitious and necessary climate legislation and do not want it reversed. Our county and Port Townsend have jointly resolved several times since 2007 to be proactive on this important issue, and this resolution provides a step in the right direction. Immediate action on every level of government is required to ensure clean air, clean water, and a stable climate for future generations. We can no longer drag our feet! Repeal of The Climate Commitment Act would be a huge mistake and would risk further deterioration the the environment. Hurricanes, droughts, forest fires, extreme hot and cold temperatures, the warming of the oceans, and the disruption of fishing seasons are playing out before our eyes and increasing every year. Repeal would also put the state budget in limbo. Microsoft, Amazon, other major WA companies and the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce support the current legislation. We mulct insist on the reduction of greenhouse gasses and try our hardest to fight the growing effects of climate change. At this point in.time, fighting global warming will not be easy or cheap; however, the common good must prevail. Please support this resolution.
