COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT – Please post and distribute Oct. 31, 2024 Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council to meet on November 8 Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary's Advisory Council will meet virtually, using GoToMeeting on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024. The council will review working group recommendations related to four programmatic sections of the draft management plan and decide whether to adopt a resolution to forward Climate Vulnerability Assessment adaptation and mitigation strategies to the sanctuary superintendent. The council will receive presentations from the Department of Ecology on Offshore Wind Energy landscape in Washington state and Past, present, and future acidification levels in Olympic Coast Dungeness crab habitat from Dr Simone Alin, NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. The meeting is open to the public. Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary is administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and was designated in 1994 as the first national marine sanctuary in the Pacific Northwest. It encompasses nearly 3,200 square miles of significant natural and cultural resources off the Washington coast, extending from Cape Flattery to the mouth of the Copalis River.
