Changing the Name of a road

WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition, Exhibit "A", to change the name of a
private road from Superior Court to Greenwood Lane, Tanglewood Lane or Indigo Lane, pursuant
to Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number 12.20.270; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner's is the only property addressed along this road; and
WHEREAS, notice of public hearing and request for comments prior to or at the hearing
was mailed to agencies and all property owners along said road on August 15, 2007 and
published on September 12, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Com and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue (FPD#1) support this change and
find the name choices to be acceptable; and
WHEREAS, the Assessor's Office does not support the first choice, but finds both the
second and third choices acceptable; and
WHEREAS, no negative responses have been received for the names Tanglewood Lane
or Indigo Lane;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Superior Court shall now be named Tanglewood
Lane.
ADOPTED THIS 2'+thDAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2007.

MESSAGE:
It is the Assessor's Office opinion that the second or third choice for Superior Court Road
re-name would be the better choices. The county has several roads that start with the
word ''Green'' so we believe this has the potential of confusion during an emergency.

Statement of Issue: Petitioner has submitted a road name change petition (Exhibit "A") to
rename Superior Court, located at milepost 4.17 left on Cape George Road and as shown on
the attached Exhibit "B", Greenwood Lane, Tanglewood Lane or Indigo Lane.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's a: Con's: JCC 12.20.270 requires that 50% of the property
owners addressed along the road sign the petition - this requirement was met as the
petitioner is the only person addressed on the road. Notices were mailed to agencies and
adjacent property owners on August 15, 2007 and the notice of public hearing was published
September 12, 2007. Jeff Com and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue (FPD #1) support this name
change and find all three choices to be acceptable; the Assessor's Office indicates that since
there are already several instances of road names beginning with "green" the second or third
choices would be preferable. No other responses were received.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None
Recommendation: Public Works recommends that the BOCC review the attachments,
conduct the public hearing and change the name of Superior Court to Tanglewood Lane by
signing the attached resolution.
