IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that South Discovery Road, County Road No, 601508, from M,P,
3.62 to M,P, 4.00 , be improved as follows:
Construction of a minor realignment of a 0.38 mile length of South Discovery Road (S, Discovery
Rd.lCape George Rd. intersection to S, Discovery Rd.lOlympic Blvd. intersection) to provide the
necessary safe distance from the continuing: natural bluff erosion at this location. This proiect will
provide engineering, right ofwav acquisition, construction engineering, and construction.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation from the officially adopted road fund budget and
based on the County Engineer's estimate is hereby made in the amounts and for the purpose shown:

Statement of Issue:
The issue is requesting adoption of the Resolution creating County project CR1780.
Analysis/Statel!ic Goals/Pros & Cons:
This project is item number 2 on the amended 2007 -2012 Six Year Transportation
Improvement program and on the Annual Construction program. The purpose of this
project is to construct a minor realignment of this 0.38 mile length of S. Discovery Road
to provide the necessary safe distance from the continuing natural bluff erosion at this
location. This project will provide engineering, right of way acquisition, construction
engineering, and the actual construction.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
The estimated total cost of this project is $870,000. Rural Arterial Program funding of
$696,000 has been obtained through the County Road Administration Board. The
remaining amount of $174,000 needs to be funded from the County's road fund. This
project is included in the submitted 2008 roads budget.
Recommendation:
The attached Resolution is recommended for your adoption. This action is
recommended, as it will allow for design and construction of this project.
The Board is asked to sign the original Resolution where indicated, and return one signed
copy to Public Works (attn. John Wayand).
