Naming a Private Road
Fern Leaf Lane or
Sitka Lane or
Tall Tree Lane
WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition (Exhibit "A") to name a private road, as shown
on attached map (Exhibit "B"), either Fern Leaf Lane or Sitka Lane or Tall Tree Lane; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name, pursuant to the Jefferson County 911
Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number 2-0401-91, to allow for addressing along the road; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that there are currently 5 addresses assigned at milepost 5.25 Left
Beaver Valley Road; and
WHEREAS, notification was sent to agencies and adjacent property owners; and
WHEREAS, East Jefferson Fire Rescue (FPD #1), Jeff Com and the Assessor support the name
choice Tall Tree Lane as there are other named roads similar to Fern Leaf Lane and Sitka Lane; and
WHEREAS, no negative responses were received for the 3rd name choice of Tall Tree Lane;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the road be named Tall Tree Lane.
ADOPTED THIS 26thOAY OF NOVEMBER, 2007.

The following ore my comments for the Road Name Petition [or Dawn and Jeff Pryde.
The petitioners 3'd choice; Tall Tree Lane, is what we believe to be the best choice.
1'( choice-Fern Leaf Lane would be similar with three other roads within the county road
system-Fern Gulley in Port Ludlow, Fern Way in Chimacum and Femridge Lane-Port
Lud]ow.
2nd choice-Silka Lane would be similar with Shika Lane which is addressed ofT of
Anderson Lake Road..

are no other road names within Ihe county to be similar_

Naming a private road
Statement of Issue: A property owner has submitted a petition to name a private road giving
the following three name choices: Fern Leaf Lane, Sitka Lane and Tall Tree Lane. This road,
as shown on Exhibit "B" of the resolution, is located at milepost 5.25 Left on Beaver Valley
Road, Chimacum.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: There are currently five (5) addresses assigned at
milepost 5.25 Left requiring the road to be named in accordance with the Jefferson County
911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-0401-91 (JCC 12.20). Notices were mailed to all
adjacent property owners and affected agencies; East Jefferson Fire Rescue (FPD #1),
JeffCom 911 and the Assessor's Office support the third name choice of Tall Tree Lane. No
other comments were received. In accordance with JCC 12.20.260, the Board is asked to
consider the road name choices given, together with the comments received by the affected
agencies and adjacent property owners and accept one of the choices. The Board may choose
to deny the petition and return it to the petitioner for resubmission with new name choices.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None
Recommendation: The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of County
Commissioners review the attached exhibits and name the road Tall Tree Lane by signing the
attached resolution.
