In the Matter of Adopting a Salary Schedule
for the FLSA and Exempt Management and
Professional Employees
RESOLUTION NO 112~07
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners sets the salaries of the FLSA exempt
management and professional positions of Jefferson County by passage of Resolution No. 8-96
which provides a uniform system for equitable compensation; and,
WHEREAS, after a review ofthe salary schedule, Resolution No. 36-06 was
adopted after a salary study was completed for these positions comparing their salaries to those
paid to similar positions in specific comparable Counties; and,
WHEREAS, after review by the County Administrator and the Board of
Commissioners it has been determined that an increase of three percent (3%) is needed on the
salary scheduled adopted with Resolution 36-06 in order to keep the salaries for these positions at
a rate that will allow the County to retain and recruit employees for these positions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, by the Board of County Commissioners
that the annual salaries of the FLSA exempt management and professional employees of the
County shall be set at the rates established in the revised Exempt Wage Matrix as shown in
"ATTACHMENT A."
BE IT FURTHER RESOL VED, that the adjustments will be effective with January
hours payable on February 5, 2008.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners reserve
the right to make adjustments to this matrix during the budget year as they feel are justified and
necessary "

Consent Agenda Item
FOR THE WEEK OF: December 10. 2007
I. Description - A brief description of the agenda item.
A Resolution establishing a new salary schedule for the Elected
Officials of Jefferson County effective January 1, 2008.
II. Issues - A short outline of the major issues or areas that should
be given particular attention.
A review of the salaries paid the Elected Officials has been
completed and it appears that adjustments are necessary for 2008
based on the salaries for like positions in the 7 counties used for
comparison"
The salary for the Commissioners will not apply to the current Board
members in 2008.
III. Action - What is the nature of the action the Board is being
asked to take (discussion, approval of a contract, support for a
grant, etc.).
Approve the attached resolution.
IV. You may also want to express the department's position or
recommendation. Suggested wording for the motion (a motion to
approve/adopt/accept and a motion to deny/remand) would help especially if there are
specific items or wording that needs to be covered in the motion.
Recommendation is to approve this document.
