TO SELL SURPLUS )
COUNTY PROPERTY )
RESOLUTION NO. 54-08
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the County Commissioners of Jefferson County to dispose
of surplus property; and
WHEREAS, the various departments have indicated a need to dispose of those items on
the list of surplus equipment attached to this resolution, for public auction to be held August 16,
2008 at Stokes Auctions Port Orchard, W A and September 16 & 17th, 2008 at Ritchie Brothers
Olympia, WA and on EBA Y from September 1, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the requirement of RCW 36.34.020 that an intention to declare surplus be
published with a Notice of Public Hearing regarding the disposal of any County property has
been met and the public hearing held on July 21,2008 at 11 :00 a.m,; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners heard no objection to the declaration of these items as
surplus.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Commissioners of Jefferson County
that they make a finding and determination as required by RCW 36.34.050 to declare the
particularly described property as surplus and allow the Treasurer to proceed with the disposition
of said surplus items. List of items available through Treasurer's office or website.

RE: Surplus sale items
This morning at 11:0 a.m. you authorized the sale of a number of items. At
11 :30 a.m. I was notified that the Sheriff's Department is pulling the two ATV's
from the sale. They are not able to prove ownership with title and Stokes
Auctions will not sell vehicles without proper documentation. The Sheriff will
retain the ATVs for use in Search and Rescue.
I have updated my list for posting the sale.

Calendar for Jefferson County Surplus Auction
2008
1. Commissioners sign Notice of Intention to Sell
(June 23, 2008 consent agenda) and set Hearing date to declare Surplus
Property
2. Send both notices via Port Townsend Leader Legals (RCW 36.34.020)
(July 2nd & July 9th)
3. Post notices in Courthouse and Treasurer's Office (July 2nd thru July
21st) (RCW 36.34.030)
4. Hearing Date (at least 10 days after publication) (RCW 36.34.040)
(July 21,2008) Resolution to sell approved
5. Notice of Sale - Treasurer must publish notice once a week for 2
successive weeks. Notice and date of first publication at least 10 days
prior to sale date with list of items for sale with time and date. (RCW
36.34.090)
(July 30th & August 6th, 2008)
6. Within three days after the hearing a determination is made and it
becomes a matter of record. (Nothing can be changed or added once the
Commissioners declare items surplus.) (RCW 36.34.050)
7. Check with Public Works to be sure they have all the titles to various
vehicles listed on sale. Terry Logue will give to the auction company the
day of the sale. Also you will need weight slips on all vehicles made
available to the auction service before the sale. Terry will maintain the
sales results and records.
8. Auction service charges and pays the sales tax on items to the state.
9. SALE DATE August 16 2008 at Stokes Auction in Port Orchard,
September 16 & 17, 2008 at Ritchie Brothers in Olympia, WA and
from August 16,2008 on E-Bay.
