Naming a Private Road

Calvary Lane or
Grace Way
WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition (Exhibit "A") to name a private road,
as shown on attached map (Exhibit "B"), either Romans Road or Calvary Lane or Grace Way; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name, pursuant to the Jefferson
County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number 2-0401-91, to allow for addressing
along the road; and
WHEREAS, notification was sent to agencies and adjacent property owners; and
WHEREAS, Fire District #1 supports all three name choices and Jeff Com supports the
first two name choices;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the road be named Romans Road.

Naming a private road - James Rosenquist, Petitioner
Statement of Issue: A property owner has submitted a petition to name a private
road giving the following three name choices: Romans Road, Calvary Lane and Grace
Way. This road, as shown on Exhibit "B" of the resolution, is located at milepost
13.47 Right on Airport Cutoff Road, Port Townsend.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: Petitioner has requested the road be named
in accordance with the Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-
0401-91 (JCC 12.20). Property owners are developing homes on an adjacent parcel
that will require addressing off this road once they are built. Notices were mailed to
all adjacent property owners and affected agencies; East Jefferson Fire Rescue
District 1 supports all three name choices and Jeff Com 911 supports the first two
name choices. No other comments were received. In accordance with JCC
12.20.260, the Board is asked to consider the road name choices given, together with
the comments received by the affected agencies and adjacent property owners and
accept one of the choices. The Board may choose to deny the petition and return it
to the petitioner for resubmission with new name choices.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None
Recommendation: The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of
County Commissioners review the attached exhibits and name the road Romans Road.
