March 24, 2008 To: Agenda Date: Subject: Naming a private road - Port Ludlow Associates, Petitioner Statement of Issue: A property owner has submitted a petition to name a private road giving the following name choices: Maiden Peak Lane, Ludden Peak Lane, Snider Peak Lane and Higley Peak Lane. This road, as shown on Exhibit liB" of the resolution, is located at milepost .18 Right on Mt Wilder Way, Port Ludlow. Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: There are currently seven lots located at milepost .18 Right that will require addresses once the property is developed. There is already a road named that provides frontal access to the seven lots. However, because the lots are located on a steep slope, a road was built at the rear of the properties where garages will be located and residences will be accessed by property owners. Fire District #3 has requested the road be named for emergency response purposes in accordance with the Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-0401-91 (JCC 12.20). All properties adjacent to this access are owned by the petitioner; therefore, there are no adjacent property owners affected by this road naming. The applicant has requested that Snider Peak Lane be considered the first road name choice. Notices were mailed to all affected agencies; FD# 3 and JeffCom 911 support the name choice of Snider Peak Lane. No other comments were received. In accordance with JCC 12.20.260, the Board is asked to consider the road name choices given, together with the comments received by the affected agencies. The Board may choose to deny the petition and return it to the petitioner for resubmission with new name choices. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None Recommendation: The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of County Commissioners review the attached exhibits and name the road Snider Peak Lane.
