WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition (Exhibit "A") to name a private road,
as shown on attached map (Exhibit "B"), either Goodfellow Dr or Obermen Rd or Russert Dr; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name, pursuant to the Jefferson
County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number 2-0401-91, to allow for addressing
along the road; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that there is currently one address assigned at milepost
.13 Left, Donald Rd; and
WHEREAS, notification was sent to agencies and adjacent property owners; and
WHEREAS, Fire District #2 and Jeff Com support all three name choices;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the road be named Russert Drive,
ADOPTED THIS 24th DAY OF MARCH, 2008.

Naming a private road - Goodfellow & Diimmel, Petitioners
Statement of Issue: Two property owners have submitted a petition to name a private road
giving the following three name choices: Goodfellow Dr, Obermen Rd and Russert Dr. This
road, as shown on Exhibit fiB" of the resolution, is located at milepost .13 Left on Donald Rd,
Coyle.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: There are eleven properties located on Donald Rd
milepost. 13 Left. The two petitioners are requesting the road be named in accordance with
the Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-0401-91 (JCC 12.20).
Additionally, in order for these properties to be developed, a road name and address is
required. Notices were mailed to all adjacent property owners and affected agencies; FD#2
and Jeff Com 911 support the three name choices. Two other property owners contacted
expressed no objection to the road name choices. One adjacent property owner disagrees
with the road name choices. In accordance with JCC 12.20.260, the Board is asked to
consider the road name choices given, together with the comments received by the affected
agencies and adjacent property owners. The Board may choose to accept the petition and
choose one of the names submitted, or deny the petition and return it to the petitioner for
resubmission with new name choices.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None
Recommendation: Taking into consideration all comments received: JeffCom support of all
three name choices; FD #2 ranking of the three acceptable name choices; support of the
name choices by the two petitioners; no objection to the choices by two other property
owners; and, one property owner's disagreement with naming the road a personal name, the
Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of County Commissioners review the
attached exhibits and name the road Russert Dr.
