Subject:
Temporary Road Closure on Mcinnis Rd., M.P. 0.62 to M.P. 0.66,
County Road No. 336109
Statement of Issue: Planned reconstruction work for East Quilcene Road and Mcinnis
Road will be best served by a temporary road closure at Mcinnis Road. The
Department of Public Works has analyzed the closure and determined that a road
closure is appropriate for this project.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's 8: Con's: The Department of Public Works is working
cooperatively with the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group to raise a portion of
Mcinnis Road and East Quilcene Road up to 2 feet in order to alleviate problems with
flooding. Work will occur at the inter5ection of these two roads. Closure of Mcinnis
Road will increase safety for the traveling public and workers, and allow the work to
be completed in a shorter time period.
Mcinnis Road is a local access road that serves approximately 5 residences. Closure
will not significantly impact area circulation. A detour route is available with a
maximum length of approximately 1.7 miles. Closure will be approximately 2 weeks.
Given the location, availability of alternate routes, and advance warning to the public
and motorists through signage, road closure is the best alternative.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: No fiscal impact.
Recommendation: The Board is requested to approve the road closure, and return a
copy of the resolution to Public Works for further processing.
