WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition (Exhibit uN') to name a private road,
as shown on attached map (Exhibit "B") , either Orcas View Trail or Orcas View Lane or Orcas
View Way or Hideaway Lane or Lone Eagle Way; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name, pursuant to the Jefferson
County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number 2-0401-91, to allow for addressing
along the road; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that there are currently five addresses assigned at
milepost 0.14 Left on Orcas Dr; and
WHEREAS, notification was sent to agencies and adjacent property owners; and
WHEREAS, Fire District #5 supports the first three name choices and Jeff Com supports
four of the name choices,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the road be named Orcas View Trail.
ADOPTED THIS 6th DAY OF October, 2008.

Naming a private road - Richard &. Janice Porter, Petitioners
Statement of Issue: A property owner has submitted a petition to name a private
road giving the following name choices: Orcas View Trail, Orcas View Lane, Orcas
View Way, Hideaway Lane, and Lone Eagle Way (Resolution Exhibit "A"). This road,
, as shown on Exhibit "B" of the resolution, is located at milepost 0.14 Left on Orcas
Dr, Gardiner.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: There are currently five (5) addresses
assigned at milepost 0.14 Left requiring the road to be named in accordance with the
Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-0401-91 (JCC 12.20).
Petitioner is developing their property and building permits cannot be finalized until
an address is assigned.
Notices were mailed to all adjacent property owners and affected agencies; Fire
District #5 supports the first three name choices and Jeff Com 911 supports four of the
name choices. Comments received from one property owner indicate support of the
first and third name choice. In accordance with JCC 12.20.260, the Board is asked to
consider the road name choices given, together with the comments received by the
affected agencies and adjacent property owners and accept one of the choices. The
Board may choose to deny the petition and return it to the petitioner for resubmission
with new name choices.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None
Recommendation: The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of
County Commissioners review the attached exhibits and name the road Orcas View
Trail.
