Charles Broders and A. C. Grady, Attorney reo Open Space
Application. Broders, Grady and Prosecuting Attorney Bill Howard appeared.
Grady felt that the application should be granted. It was classified in
timberland but the assessor had advised Broders to put it in open space.
The Assessor was not available for comment. The Board reviewed the open
space statute. Grady feels the application classifies as open space as
per RCW 84.34 as it "concerves and enhances natural and scenic resources."
Howard commented that the application states that the owner believes the
property falls within open space classification. However, there is no
information whether the application is accurate and that the Planner or
the Assessor should make a recommendation as to whether the property comes
within the scope of the statute. The Board agreed to postpone a determination
on whether it qualifies until 11:00 a.m. December 19 to allow time for
the Assessor to submit a recommendation in writing. If the application
qualifies it will then go through a hearing process. The Board would
have until next May to accept or deny the application.
