In the Matter of Adopting a Salary Schedule for
the FLSA and Exempt Management and
Professional Employees for 2009
RESOLUTION NO 86-08
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners sets the salaries of the FLSA exempt
management and professional positions of Jefferson County by passage of Resolution No. 8-96
which provides a uniform system for equitable compensation; and,
WHEREAS, after a review of the salary schedule, Resolution No. 36-06 was
adopted after a salary study was completed for these positions comparing their salaries to those
paid to similar positions in specific comparable Counties; and,
WHEREAS, after review by the County Administrator and the Board of
Commissioners it has been determined that an increase ofthree percent (3%) is needed on the
salary scheduled adopted with Resolution 112-07 in order to keep the salaries for these positions
at a rate that will allow the County to retain and recruit employees for these positions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners
that the annual salaries of the FLSA exempt management and professional employees of the
County shall be set at the rates established in the revised Exempt Wage Matrix as shown in
"ATTACHMENT A"
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the adjustments will be effective with January
hours payable on February 5, 2009.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that \he Board of County Commissioners reserve
the right to make adjustments to this matrix during \he budget year as they feel are justified and
necessary.

Agenda Item
For the Week of December 15, 2008
I. Description - A brief description of the agenda item.
Adoption of the 2009 budgel for Jefferson County and setting the levies amounts
for real and personal property for the 2008 tax year.
II. Issues - A short outline of the major issues or areas that should be given
particular attention.
This action requires approval of the following items:
Letter to Assessor detailing the 2008 real and personal property levy amounts.
Resolution re: Adoption of the Annual Budget Including the General Fund,
Public Works, Special Funds, Jefferson County Road Construction
Program and County Tax Levy
Resolution re: Adopting a Salary Schedule for FLSA and Exempt Management
and Professional Employees for 2009
Resolution re: Establishing New Salaries for the Elected Offices of Jefferson
County for 2009
III. Action -- What is the nature of the action the Board is being asked to
take (discussion, approval of a contract, support for a grant, etc.).
Approve the tax levy amounts, and the resolution adopting the 2009 budget.
IV. You may also want to express the department's position or
recommendation. Suggested wording for the motion (a motion to approve/adopt/accept and a motion
to deny/remand) would help especially if there are specific items or wording that needs to be covered in the
motion.
