RESOLUTION NO. 02-09
WHEREAS, the state of Washington shall contribute an amount equal to one-half the
salary of a superior court judge towards the salary of the elected prosecuting attorney. Upon receipt of
the state contribution, a county shall continue to contribute towards the salary of the elected prosecuting
attorney in an amount that equals or exceeds that contributed by the county in 2008 in accordance with
RCW 36.17.020; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Treasurer requires documentation of the salary
established as a basis for payment ofthe State's share ofthe Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's
salary.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED, that the salary for the Jefferson County
Prosecuting Attorney for the calendar year 2009 is one hundred twenty three thousand five hundred
seventy two and 84/100 dollars ($123,572.84).

STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
According to the RCWs, the State Treasurer requires documentation for payment of the State's share of the
prosecutor's salary.
ANALYSIS:
A resolution establishing the Prosecutor's salary is approved annually.
FISCAL IMPACT:

Schedule of salaries.
The county legislative authority of each county or a county commissioner or councilmember
salary commission which conforms with RCW 36.17.024 is authorized to establish the salaries of
the elected officials ofthe county. The state and county shall contribute to the costs ofthe salary
of the elected prosecuting attorney as set forth in subsection (II) of this section. The annual
salary of a county elected official shall not be less than the following: ...
(II) The state of Washington shall contribute an amount equal to one-half the salary of a superior
court judge towards the salary of the elected prosecuting attorney. Upon receipt of the state
contribution, a county shall continue to contribute towards the salary of the elected prosecuting
attorney in an amount that equals or exceeds that contributed by the county in 2008.
