The Planning Commssion itself noted that it was supposed to get the plan in September - finally got it in December when
they had no meetins and would have only 2 weeks to review this horrendous document. I am hoping that their lack of
review will give the public an opportunity to appeal it. Barbara

Dear Ms. Blowers, thank you for your email raising concern that delays in issuing the SMP draft in December may have
reduced the public review period prior to adoption. By this email, I am forwarding your concerns to AI Scalf, Director of
Community Development so he can respond to that issue.
I know the Planning Commission has been holding meetings to review the SMP, and that the County Commissioners will
hold a public hearing prior to considering adoption. I encourage you to stay engaged to give input into this process, so
your concerns are heard. The more detail you can provide as to specific changes you'd recommend, that will help.
Thanks again for writing.

Subject: Shoreline Master Plan
The Planning Commission was to have received the draft of the Shoreline Master Plan in September. So were we.
Instead, we received it in December. That 3-month difference should have moved all of the dates forward by 3 months--
so that the public can review it and so that the Planning Commission can review it. One of the Planning Commission
members brought that up at the last meeting, but no one answered him. Legally, golly, I think we got grounds.
This is not the first time this DCD rushed things through over the holiday, knowing no one would do anything. This SMP is
very bad for jefferson County:
1. It will lower property taxes
2. It will reduce income from excise tax since people won't buy a pig in a poke.
3. It will cost the county a lot of money to defend lawsuits by property owners who rights have been stolen
4. It will require the addition of additional new people to an already-bloated DCD
5. Once again, it will make Jefferson County the laughing stock of the Associaton of Counties.
Our commissioners do whatever DCD says -- no matter what. They have done so for 20 years. And it has cost us
dearly. Please give us some help.
