J wish to add my two cents to the issue. It seems to me that when small private boat piers are prohibited of shorelines is many places, when private lot owners wait months for approval to build small private homes near shorelines, when the fishing industry with the help of thousands of private citizens are trying to improve the habitat in order to revive the Salmon population, that it only makes sense to apply the same standards to huge industrial shoreline facilities. The 1,000 foot Fred Hill proposed pier will detract from all the beneficial programs we have fought so hard to establish. Ecological and fish promoting millions of dollars down the drain. Does that fit Gov. Gregoire's plans to improve the Hood Canal's waters? Furthermore, we poor taxpayers will not benfit from Fred Hill's pier project. And of course, the likelihood that sooner or later a barge will knock the Hood Canal Bridge out. We scream because we will not be able to use the bridge for 6 weeks. Waait until the bridge is out for several years!!!!!!II!1l!!!! I for one will vote for no-one who passes rules, regulations, or laws authorizing such a project. J will join those who will work to remove such individuals from our government roles. J find the subject that important to our community, and I feel that county support for such a project as being in the worst interests of the community and county as a whole. Yours truly, Michael Cahn 1/26/2009
