Subject: Draft Shoreline Management Plan comments
I am writing to provide my comments on the Draft Shoreline Management Plan. While overall it seems
comprehensive and reasonable to me, one concern is the "Mining" section. While the proposed
regulations and restrictions seem adequate, I have serious reservations about any mining activity on the
shores of the Hood Canal. The looming and fearsome "Pit to Pier" project comes especially to mind. My
wish is to prohibit all mining activities (including loading and transport) within 5 miles of the water's
edge.
