Since the Shorelines Hearings Board has already previously overturned this type of application in the past, why, oh why would you even consider making it again? The precedence has already been established for the maintenance of the existing state of the Canal. It already has enough problems to deal with and adding this into the mix is just unconscionable. I want to express my alarm and concern over this development and urge the Jefferson County Planning Commission to amend the current preliminary draft shoreline master plan to prohibit mining activities on the shoreline of Hood Canal and any other shoreline of state-wide significance within the county's jurisdiction. I am a very regular user of the Hood Canal in a variety of capacities and would be outraged to see mining activities, in any form, become the norm on Hood Canal. Vie Keranen 1/26/2009
