#Long-Range Planning
Shoreline Master Plan
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to respectfully request that you amend the current preliminary draft
shoreline master plan to prohibit mining activities on the shoreline of Hood Canal and any
other shoreline of state-wide significance within the county's jurisdiction. Hood canal
is one of the few unmarred inland shorelines within the state and should be preserved for
sustainable use and enjoyment by all. You have an opportunity to step up and make a
lasting difference for the citizens of this great state.
I urge you specifically to amend the master plan to not permit m1n1ng activities,
including conveyor belts, piers, and barges on the conservancy shoreline of Hood Canal.
Do Jefferson county residents want to subsidize gravel mining operations at the expense of
our precious natural environment? The answer is NO.
Thank you for your deliberate consideration of this important and far reaching matter.
Respectfully,
Andrew Dempsey
