Mining should not be located on shorelines where unavoidable adverse impacts to other uses or resources equal or outweigh the benefits from mining. 2. Mining should not interfere with public access or recreation on the shoreline. 3. Mining should be located and operated so as to provide long-term protection of water quality, fish and wildlife species, and fish and wildlife habitat. 4. Mining should be located and operated to cause the least amount of disruption to the natural shoreline functions and processes. 5. Mining operations that include conveyors, piers, barges and/or ships are prohibited on shorelines of state-wide significance. 6. Mining operations that include conveyors, piers, barges and/or ships must also comply with Articles 8.3 and 8.5 above. 1/26/2009
