We purchased two building lots in Oak Bay in 1968 with the intention of eventually building on one of the lots, which happens to be waterfront. Unfortunately, we were not ready to begin construction at that time and have not yet done so. However, we have continued to pay Jefferson County taxes on the property for the last 40 years. We have now reached an age when construction is no longer feasible for us, and we have decided to sell the property. The set-back line that you have proposed for waterfront property will make it impossible for anyone to build there. These restrictions will make our property virtual worthless. We have within the last two years invested a considerable amount for perk tests, septic site location plans, and re-survey in expectation of a sale. The property has been appraised at $125,000. My question is-How do you intend to compensate us for the loss in value of our land? You may contact us at the address below. Thank you for your attention to this matter and a prompt relay.
