SubJect: Hood Canal project
I have a home on the Hood Canal, Shine area. We purchased our home there so
we could retire in the pristine waterway that we love. That would be drastically
altered if the land use and developments that are planned are approved within the
shoreline of Hood Canal. I would like to request that your office discourage or
prohibited this action. It is difficult to perceive a use more intensive and
incompatible with the present shoreline and aesthetics of Hood Canal than the
construction proposed by the Company. The pier, conveyor and barge facility will
intrude upon the magnificent grandeur that is now existent, converting the natural
characteristics and beauty of the existing shoreline into one marred by this
proposed industrial enterprise."
We should be even smarter and wiser today as we witness the massive expense
required to clean up the rest of Puget Sound. Hood Canal remains a pristine
waterway, virtually void of commercial shipping of any kind. It's shoreline is not yet
marred by industrialization. We should not allow private interests, whose
motives are purely financial, to destroy this gift of nature. Please assist the
residents of Hood Canal keep our Canal the way it was intended.
