Dear Friends:
I want to thank you all for your hard work and willingness to serve on this committee to represent citizen like
ourselves.
we realize that it takes a lot of time and you are not always appreciated. We also understand how easy it is to
become so immersed in the politics of decisions that we loose sight of our real goal for this county. It is a
temptation to say we need jobs and new business for Jefferson county to survive. I believe the challenge for us
all living here is to remember why we moved here or choose to stay. For many of you like me and my family it
was because of the pristine beauty of this area. A little spot that has not been taken over by the need to decimate
the land and waters for the sake of money and commercial interests. Our challenge as citizens and county
officials is to find ways to grow our economy that does not infringe upon our environment. Once gone it is gone
forever, never to replaced. I ask you to do what is right in this Shoreline Master Plan and refused to allow any
industrialization on the shores of Hood Canal. I request that you revisit and revised this Plan to reflect our
commitment to preserve the gifts that nature has bestowed upon our county.
