Dear Members of the Jefferson County Planning Commission:
I am writing to ask you to amend the current preliminary draft Shoreline Master Plan so that mining
activities on the shoreline of Hood Canal are prohibited. I believe that this should apply to any other
shoreline of state-wide significance within Jefferson County.
The reason I am requesting this is because I have been a resident of Washington for nearly 40 years. I
treasure the non-commercial nature of Hood Canal and am convinced that both its natural beauty and value
as salmon habitat are immeasurable. Mining operations would be in conflict with those values.
