I strongly disagree with opening the shoreline to mining or other activities that could soil the pristine ambiance of the Hood Canal. I have a practical disagreement with greatly increasing traffic up and down the Hood Canal. This would only increase chances of accidents that could cause damage to the bridge, for example barges could endanger the draw gates for the bridge. Also, there is a lot of traffic going across the bridge. Right now, the main interruption to traffic on the bridge is an occasional submarine and larger fishing boats. The traffic on the Hood Canal would greatly increase if you industrialize the Hood Canal Shoreline, which will greatly increase delays to crossing the bridge.
