#Long-Range Planning
Draft shoreline master plan
Dear Jefferson County Planning Commission:
I wish to add my voice to those of others who strongly oppose mining activities, including
piers, barging activities, and conveyor belts on the Hood Canal Shoreline. This shoreline
is designated A Shoreline of State-Wide Significance for very valid reasons, and must be
protected against such massively intrusive activities. These activities are clearly
opposed to the Governor's bold plans expressed in the Puget Sound Partnership and would
make a mockery of all sensible environmental studies in this remarkable waterway. Hood
Canal is suffering enough with severe areas of oxygen depletion, and needs your protection
against this added intrusion. I urge you to amend the Jefferson County master plan to
prohibit such desecration.
