There will never be enough land or water resources to satisfy economic motives. Those of us who love the land and water of the Olympic Peninsula and Hood Canal must resist its destruction. The pier, tie up platforms, huge barges, and the attendant noise will be the end of the scenic beauty and quiet of Hood Canal. Furthermore Hood Canal is a biologically sensitive area. Already we know this from its decimated fisheries and its oxygen depleted waters. Industrialization of this water body would be a tremendous mistake and a giant move in the wrong direction. We should place high value in protecting and enhancing the water and land of our county for their food resources, wildlife values, and not least their inspirational values. Sincerely, Rosemary Sikes, President Admiralty Audubon Society 1/29/2009
