Members of the Jefferson County Planning Commission:
I encourage you to support the proposed draft updating the SMP. It provides a good
balance of multiple, sometimes competing, uses, and also addresses the requirement of 'no
net loss of shoreline ecological functions and processes', a value that seems to be
overlooked by some.
Best available science validates the proposed buffers, and I have confidence that you
appreciate the importance of maintaining meaningful and effective buffers.
Thank you for your work protecting our wondrous shorelines for the benefit of present and
future generations of people and wildlife.
