As owners of property with a shoreline, we find your proposed revisions to the Shoreline Master Program to allow for a huge expansion of the shoreline regulatory system with severe consequences to shoreline property owners and users. By deeming all such properties as "non-conforming" you are devaluing everything we own. Or maybe we do not own it at all. Maybe we are just expected to pay you taxes and wait for you to come up with new rules and regulations that will allow you to take it all away from us. Is it true that the chair of the Planning Commission is involved in the business of goeduck farming? If this is true, then maybe that is the reason that there has been a greater amount of attention being paid to the aquaculture section of the SMP. Special interest of one gets special attention? Unprofessional? Yes. Illegal? Maybe. Unethical? Certainly. We understand that few Jefferson County property owners are aware of the impact your SMP revisions will have on their property and land use, that nothing is "grandfathered" in, and that much of the input and influence for these changes are coming from your invited supporters from as far away as Seattle, and possibly beyond. All speakers at any hearing should be required to state their location of residence, not just those who really do live here and will be the ones left with worthless property, but still paying you taxes. You also appear to be in violation of the State Guidelines for revision, as well as delegating too much control to the Department of Ecology. And your failure to demonstrate harm indicates that your desire for drastic changes allows you to slant your SMP toward the environment beyond the requirements of the law. In short, we find the efforts of those such as the Olympic Stewardship Foundation to protect our property rights commendable and your efforts to destroy our property rights with these activist SMP revisions to be contemptible. This email is our notice for record that we are not in favor of the proposed revisions to the Shoreline Master Program. Sincerely, Jerry and Laurie Hampton 421 Olele Point Rd., Port Ludlow, WA 98365 1
