I live at 1414 Sherman St, Port Townsend, WA. I own a lot on Marrowstone Island. It is at 120 Beach Dr, lot #2 in Fuller's Acres, parcel Number 952200002. My husband & I purchased this lot many years ago. We could not build because of salt water intrusion into the well water. A few years ago Jefferson County began the process of getting a public water supply for the island. I subscribed to that. In the mean time the county reassessed the property, doubling the value and the taxes. I recently received a bill in the amount of$8,100.00 for my ability to hook up to that water system.. With this new shoreline plan for a setback of 150+ feet I will no longer be able to build on this lot and apparently will still have to pay for the water system and the high property taxes. This seems very unfair to all waterfront property owners, many of whom already live on their property or who like me have held onto this property for personal use and retirement. My husband is deceased and I am a retired senior citizen soon to be 74 years old. These restrictions causing me to pay exorbitant amounts for a water supply that I will not be able to use and high property taxes will be a huge burden. ... Also with these restrictions, I will be unable to sell the property especially at the new assessed value. I urge you to reconsider and amend your plan. Respectfully yours, Billie J Carter 1414 Sherman Street Port Townsend, W A 98368 Phone 385-1244 1
