The emails sent by Associate Planner of Long Range Planning Michelle McConnell to all
property owners directly affected by this updating of the SMP (and to anyone who expressed an
interest in receiving
them) have kept us all aware of the state mandated update progress to this point. I've read
the Draft SMP through in it's entirety and had several questions during the entire process--
all of them addressed with interest and clarity by the planing staff.
I support sending this Preliminary Draft Update of the SMP on to the County Commissioners for
their consideration with no further modification. No document is perfect, and I'm sure you
will receive many comments that the County Commissioners will review along with the draft and
I trust that out of that review, and further public comment, will emerge a final SMP that
will best meet the stated goals, purpose, and intent of the state mandated update of the SMP
and that Jefferson County's final version of the SMP will clarify ambiguities of
interpretation and scope of the governing plans currently in effect.
As a shoreline property owner in the county, I thank everyone who has contributed to moving
this update forward for your effort in protecting all of our county's shorelines!
